As the TUI Magic Life Candia Maris operates on a seasonal basis and the quantities of raw materials purchased are certain in order not to have any left-overs, raw materials are never thrown away. At the end of the operating season, during the hotel closing process, all sealed packages that might have left over, are donated to food collection organizations for people in need. Cooked meals that have been served on the buffet, based on regulation and sanitation of food cannot be stored and served again. Meals that have been cooked and have not been served on the buffet, while they are not in the next day’s buffet program, following the correct preservation procedures are served at the staff restaurants.
At TUI Magic Life Candia Maris we are fully aware of the need to support and promote the local products while ensuring the highest levels of quality for our guests. Through the purchase of local products TUI Magic Life Candia Maris is supporting smaller local businesses and farmers, is supporting the local economy and is allowing our guests to experience the high quality local products. Through the purchase of local goods we are also helping to reduce CO2 emissions and our carbon footprint compared to that from the transportation of international products.
In case of new electronic and electrical equipment procurement must be carried beyond the criterion of the most economically advantageous tender, and by lower environmental burden of such equipment. Therefore, the criterion of environmental pollution is a paired and essential criterion for any new equipment (electronic, electrical). Regarding all purchases of the hotel, along with the best rate criterion arises the essential criterion of environmentally friendly products and packaging.
Reaching and maintaining the highest levels of quality is for us at TUI Magic Life Candia Maris a TOP Priority ! We conduct trainings on a yearly basis so as to assure that our employees are updated with the most recent trends of their working field. At the end of each season, we evaluate all our staff by conducting appraisals from the Supervisors to the workers of their department and vice versa. We are monitoring the CSQ’s (Customer Satisfaction Questionnaires) of our guests on a weekly basis, assuring that the opinion and the needs of our guests align with the actions and the decisions of our management TEAM. We are holding regular gatherings with our repeated guests because their opinion matters to us and is thus taken into serious consideration.
Human rights are based on the principle of respect for each individual person and are universal. Human rights are protecting us while telling us how to treat our colleague and entrust us with the responsibility to treat him with respect. The basic vision is that every person is a human being who deserves to be treated with dignity. At Metaxa Hospitality Group we recognize and respect the right to be different and by not making distinctions we preserve human rights. We promote equality of employees in the workplace as well as career opportunities and access to the labor market. We respect the presence of each employee separately behind the company's success.
Following are some of the ways in which we preserve in practice human rights: We do not employ children. In case of employment of minors 15 to 18 years, we do it in full compliance with the provisions of the labor law. We do not discriminate (based on sex, color, ethnicity, religion, age, etc.) at any stage of hiring staff, staff selection, promotion and payment. An annual staff evaluation and all HR functions are based on objective criteria, ie qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and performance.
We comply with the Labor Law to ensure a healthy and safe working environment and follow the provisions regarding the Employees Physician and Safety Technician thereby minimizing the likelihood of accidents at work and exposure to health hazardous factors.
The respect of children’s rights and the protection of children from all forms of exploitation, including sexual exploitation is a commitment of TUI Magic Life Candia Maris.
The purpose of this policy is to strengthen the rights of children and protect them from any form of exploitation. Nowadays child labor, children trafficking from developing to industrialized countries and child abuse is on the rise.
TUI Magic Life Candia Maris does not employ children in any department. Also, TUI Magic Life Candia Maris follows faithfully and fully comply with the relevant provisions of the Labor Law that define constraints and set the non-employment of minors in hazardous work for the health and physical integrity. So we do not employ any child under 15 years, while in the case of employment of a minor 15 to 18 years we require a Labor Booklet and employ him/her within the allowable working time limits and respecting all other protective provisions.
TUI Magic Life Candia Maris sensitizes staff to child abuse conducting trainings regarding the effect, the definition, the forms it can take, the ways of detection, and the process of reporting. Each employee must be alert and encouraged to report any conduct of adult or child who looks suspicious. Thus, each employee is able to combat and curb the phenomenon.
Once the department head is updated, he/she informs the hotel manager and the HR Manager. Guests are encouraged to notify the Guests Relation department or the Manager on Duty, in order to inform the hotel manager. In any case, and if there is a serious concern for the physical and mental safety of the child, we inform the responsible organization "Smile of the Child" and the local authorities.
The Employees’ rules of Health and Safety (OSH) in the workplace is a requirement of our time and goal of any society with basic principles for the protection of human life and the natural environment. The international conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Directives of the European Union (EU) and regulations / laws in Greece oblige everyone (employers and employees) to take appropriate health and safety measures, in order to prevent accidents, occupational diseases, to protect human resources’ health and to avoid creating dangerous situations, and pollution of the natural environment.
To achieve the objectives of OSH we focus on adherence to the rules, which are agreed and which we make sure everyone is fully informed about. These rules set the framework within which we use the exterior and interior of our workplaces buildings, and the ways in which we carry out different tasks. In case that there is any change of use of building, industrial processes and regulations, we necessarily inform all the employees.
Briefly the Corporate Policy of OHS is presented below in the following 12 areas: OSH rules demand the suitability of the buildings and the technological infrastructure to be constantly ensured. In case of emergency (fire) an easy access is required and offered to firefighting vehicles and ambulances. Also, sufficient information and employees’ training on how to manage such incidents it is provided.
Preparedness of first aid provision, in case of accident and proper hospital care. Proper storage and use of flammable and dangerous substances, gases, etc. in order to avoid accidents.
Proper training of personnel on safety rules when operating machinery, or performing work with biological agents.
Proper management of toxic and dangerous waste.
Correct and simple labeling of all the workplaces and prohibitions rules for dangerous tasks or working conditions. Observance of the OSH rules during the work and incurrence of liabilities for frequent inspection of the workplaces.
Staff’s training and information about OSH measures.
In case of illness or discomfort we consult the hotel’s doctor or the hospitals’ physicians. Basic rule: We do not underestimate the risk of accidents and exposure to toxic agents that long term can become dangerous to health.
The recent European Union Directives and legislation of OSH in our country is compulsory for everyone (employers and employees).
The hotel follows all the rules of hygiene and food & consumer safety. Every year our resort gets certified with HACCP by TÜV Company. The application of HACCP gives us the opportunity to prove that hygiene and food safety is always our priority.
In addition, concerning the safety of all guests and employees, TUI Magic Life Candia Maris annually organizes an evacuation exercise of the resort.
Taking into account the conditions that have arisen from the COVID-19 outbreak, the management of TUI Magic Life Candia Maris has established a technical and organizational action plan in order to ensure public health.
In this context, the Hotel Management is committed to strictly adhering to the legal requirements and the relevant instructions issued by the competent health authorities. In order to support this action plan, the management is committed to providing all the necessary resources, continuous training and updates to staff, ongoing monitoring and evaluating the action plan.
